Plastic absorbs and radiates heat, so it actually melts your ice; fiberglass reflects and dissipates heat for far better ice retention and no cool-down. It also won't warp (so the seal holds for years), won't stain or stink (it isn't porous), and wipes clean.

Every chest is hand-built fiberglass finished in marine-grade gel coat, with 2" of polyurethane foam insulation and a premium rubber gasket seal. Hardware is 316 marine-grade stainless, with marine-grade rope handles and a cam-lock drain. The Gas Shock + Bottle Opener combo is standard on every chest.

Yes — going forward, every cooler ships with the Gas Shock and Bottle Opener combo included as standard. The gas shock lifts the lid and stops it from slamming; the bottle opener is built into the latch.
