Frigid Rigid started in the Florida Keys in 1980, when an avid fisherman and his fishing-guide buddies wanted an ice chest that held ice for weeks, not days. We still hand-build every one — and we haven't stopped innovating since.
It started with a simple problem.
Plastic coolers melt their own ice. An avid fisherman and his fishing-guide buddies were tired of it — tired of buying bag after bag, tired of a day's catch swimming in warm water by the run home.
So they built something better out of fiberglass — the same material that builds the boat under your feet. It held ice for weeks, not days. Word got around the docks, and Frigid Rigid was born.

Every Frigid Rigid is hand-built fiberglass, finished in marine-grade gel coat, insulated with two inches of foam and sealed with a premium rubber gasket. No assembly line — each one is made the same careful way as the first chest we ever built.
